🏊 HEALTH 
The famous salt lakes (salinas in Spanish) of Lo Pagán in the Mar Menor (a 20-minute drive from Torrevieja) have been known since the time of the Romans for their therapeutic, beneficial effects on the human body. With its own specific micro-climate and high salinity in water and air is Lo Pagan one of the healthiest places in the world! Lo Pagan is known for its therapeutic mud baths due to the high presence of calcium, salt, iodine and magnesium in the mud. These mud baths together with the high temperature of the Mar Menor’s seawater have a great (scientifically proven) healing effect on people, especially for those suffering from all kinds of ailments and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatism and osteoarthritis.

The Mar Menor is separated by a narrow strip of land (La Manga) from the Mediterranean Sea. This makes the Mar Menor the largest inland sea in Europe. The maximum depth in the Mar Menor is barely 7,5 metres. The Mar Menor enjoys maximum protection as a natural park with legal recognition as a legal person since 2022. (as the very first eco-system in Europe!). The Mar Menor is home all year round to hundreds of pink flamingos and many seabirds. 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
